The main body of Qigu Visitor Center is inspired primarily by the “bank.” The design elements consist of the structures such as sea bank, riverbank and the bank around the salt field. Using folded-plate structure, “banks” are transformed into spaces. For example, salt blocks that stack like a mountain, when eroded by rain, may collapse to form a valley, symbolizing the force of nature that shapes the landform.
The basic tone of the building's main body is grayish white. The “bank” structure is blindingly white against the blue sky. Dawn and dusk will endow this building with changing appearances. The building's structure also creates a spatial image of salt mountain, increasing the compatibility of the building and local landscapes. This building symbolizes the special local natural landscapes, embodies the goals of protecting the ocean environment, and highlights the beauty of the seashore.
Qigu Visitor Center is an information station that connects neighboring attractions. Besides being a new tourism landmark, it's a service point for in-depth seashore tourism that aims to provide friendly and diverse services to visitors in a more thoughtful manner.
