* Three major benthic invertebrates

Besides fish, there are three major benthic invertebrates living in the waters of this area: arthropods, mollusks and annelids. Shrimps and crabs are the majority of arthropods, with the fiddler crab as the most representative.
Mollusks include clams, conches and cowries. Clams, Cyclina sinensis and Perna viridis (Linnaeus) are the commonest clams in the area mostly hidden between the inter-tidal zone and the sand in the sea.
The clamworm is the most representative species of annelids in the area and lives in the inter-tidal area on the sandy beach. It is the favorite food of fish and a common bait for anglers.
