Salt washing workshop in Beimen Salt Works Located in Beimen Township of Tainan County across from the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration, Beimen Salt Works was built in 1936 with an office, a factory building, a machinery repairing workshop, a substation and a warehouse. It is currently a salt washing workshop with better preservation in Taiwan.
Bromine Tower It is a place where bromine is stored. The building was supported by red brick or cement columns. While bromine is an important stabilizer to prevent flight fuel from explosion, it was an important element for the military and national defense during the Japanese Colonization. Historical sites of bromine towers are easily found along Tai-17 Freeway in Beimen Township in Tainan County and Budai Township in Chiayi County.
Salt Worker Lounge Lounges for salt workers were commonly found along the rand of salt marshes. They were humble cottages for salt workers to take a break in the rain and for storing salt making tools (e.g. bamboo salt spoons, salt cages, carrying poles and dustpans) and materials for repairing salt tools.
Local Government Office These local government offices were built during the Japanese Colonization for collecting salt taxes and for buying white salt produced by different salt companies for resale. The Beimen Government Office located behind the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration is the best preserved one today.
