Asparagus
Asparagus can remove internal heat in the human body and promote urination. It is often grown in sandy soil with good water drainage. The asparagus grown in Dongshih and LiuChiao townships in Chiayi County is tender and delicious. Whether it is stir-fried or in juice, it is always cool and delicious.
Tomato
The southwest coast is one of the famous tomato production centers in Taiwan. The tomato here is also called the “salt land tomato”. Taking advantage of the great diurnal range along the coast, the tomato grows exceptionally big and sweet here.
Muskmelon
Muskmelon grows well in coastal areas because there is rich salt content. Therefore, Cigu becomes the center of muskmelon in Taiwan. The muskmelon has a wide variety and all have thick pulp. The Muskmelon Festival held by the Cigu Farmer’s Association in December every year is the best chance for visitors to taste the sweet and juicy muskmelons.
